Flexible funding scheme

An internal funding scheme for staff and students based at Norwich Research Park

Our Flexible Fund is designed to support events and activities that help to build the microbiology community and share your work with different audiences. It aims to provide financial support towards small projects hoping to generate impact through outreach, training, seminars, conference travel etc. within the Centre’s remit. The maximum funding that can be applied for is £500.
Process and eligibility
Please complete this short application form if you have an idea for a new event or activity.

Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis throughout the year and the review process will be conducted by the Centre’s Director and Project Manager. Proposals will be judged on their relevance, feasibility, expected impact/legacy and potential for enabling new collaborations or resources.

We particularly encourage applications involving collaborative microbiology activities open to all of Norwich Research Park. Applications from early career researchers will also be prioritised and guidance can be provided throughout the process to ensure your aims and expected outcomes are met.

What can be funded?

We are very open to your ideas about innovative ways to deploy this funding. Examples of potential projects include:
-Development and delivery of outreach activities for a public-facing event, e.g. Norwich Science Festival
-Coordination of a training workshop for staff and/or students, e.g. covering trainer fees
-Running a seminar with an invited keynote speaker, e.g. covering refreshments and speaker travel
-Conference travel expenses to present your research to new audiencesPLEASE NOTE: the Flexible Fund cannot be used to cover your research costs, laboratory equipment or salary/stipend.
