Biography

Amr has pursued his B.Sc. (excellent with honors) in Chemistry at the School of Sciences, Mansoura University (Egypt) in 2004 and, his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry (Plant Natural Products Chemistry) at the same University in 2009, before gaining his PhD in Organic Chemistry/Chemical Biology (Marine Natural Products and Biomimetic Synthesis) from the CNRS-ICSN, University of Paris-Saclay, France, in 2016.

After pursuing his PhD in France, Amr was affiliated to Mansoura University as an Assistant Professor while also conducting his first Postdoctoral training at the Fungal Natural Products Team at CNRS/MNHN, Sorbonne Universities (France). Since April 2019 up to July 2024, Amr was conducting his second postdoctoral training in Natural Products Biosynthesis (Professor Anne Osbourn’s group) at John Innes Centre, Norwich Research Park, UK.

Later, in December 2021, Amr has been promoted to an Associate Professor in Organic Chemistry, at Mansoura University, Egypt. In August 2024, Amr accepted a Lecturer-ship position in Chemical Biology at the School of Pharmacy, University of East Anglia, where he embarked on establishing his research group.
