Lecturer in Microbiology
My research interests span the medical and environmental microbiology disciplines. The primary theme in my group is to investigate novel mechanisms of resistance to metal intoxication in pathogenic bacteria. Through collaboration I also work on projects studying the molecular genetics of nitrogen and sulfur metabolism in marine and terrestrial bacteria.
My lab is supported by recent funding awards from the Academy of Medical Sciences Springboard Scheme and a Royal Society Research Grant and my PhD students are funded by the MRC and BBSRC doctoral training partnership schemes. I also hold adjunct appointment at Griffith University’s School of Pharmacy and Medical Science with funding in Australia from the NHMRC together with Prof Glen Ulett and Dr Kelvin Goh.
