Biography

After being awarded a David Philips fellowship, I established my research group in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at the John Innes Centre (JIC) in Norwich, UK, in 2017. Granted tenure in 2022, I also lead the beneficial microbe interaction theme within the JIC’s strategic program, “Advance Plant Health”. Additionally, since 2024, I have been serving associate professor at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK.

My research focuses on understanding plant-endosymbiont interactions and the role of nuclear calcium signalling as a central hub integrating plant responses to the environment.

I have built a multidisciplinary research group that combines genetics, cell biology, proteomics, and biophysics to investigate the fundamental mechanisms of Ca2+ signalling integration in plants. Our work aims to identify solutions for reducing food insecurity, enhancing plant nutrient use efficiency, and minimizing the input of chemical fertilizers.
