Lecturer in Microbiology
My current research interests span two closely connected areas: food safety and preservation, and personal care product development. I am particularly interested in how foodborne pathogens and spoilage microorganisms influence food quality, public health, and the sustainability of food systems. My research focuses on developing innovative antimicrobial formulations and preservation approaches that improve microbial safety, extend shelf life, and retain food’s sensory and nutritional quality. I am interested in the factors that determine their successful application in real-world food systems.
My achievements include winning a UEA Innovation and Impact Award in 2026 and the Norwich Research Park Hothouse competition in both 2023 and 2025. These have strengthened my ambition to develop research-led solutions that benefit industry and society.
