Professor of Environmental Epidemiology
My research examines the impact that the natural environment has upon human health. Previous research has focussed upon Gastrointestinal infections such as Cryptosporidiosis and Campylobacteriosis but I have also done research on other organisms such as Marine vibrios. Building on this, I also look at the potential impact of climate change upon these organisms and have been co-author of “Health Impacts of Climate Change in the UK”, in which I jointly authored the chapter on food and waterborne disease. I also work closely with Health Agencies looking at early detection and response to emerging infections.
