My research is focussed on the design and synthesis of small molecules and peptides that target DNA or protein-protein interactions. Molecules that we design and make are particularly targeted to have anticancer, anti-inflammatory or anti-microbial activity. I am currently Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in the School of Chemistry, Pharmacy and Pharmacology at UEA having previously been Reader of Medicinal Chemistry in the same institution. Prior to joining UEA, I was a Research Scientist at St Luke’s Institute for Cancer Research (Dublin, Ireland), Assistant Professor at Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla, California) and Senior Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy, University of London (now UCL School of Pharmacy).
